Two KCII area schools send their boys and girls track teams to Letts Thursday night for the annual Falcon Relays at Louisa-Muscatine. The Hillcrest Academy boys and girls last competed at Lone Tree April 8th where the girls were led by Rya Scott with wins in the long jump, 100 and 400s. Marie Yoder was a winner in the 3000 and runner-up in the 1500. Delaney Shaw was runner-up in long jump, as was the 4×200 team of Morgyn Nafziger, Niva Helmuth, Natalie Meganathan and Shaw. Shaw was also third in the 200, Siena Stanerson was third in the 3000 and the 4×100 team of Nafziger, Helmuth, Shaw and Scott placed third. On the boys side, Owen Scott was the high jump and long jump winner. He also took third in the 100 and 200. Kale Bailey was third in the 400.
The Columbus boys and girls both ran partial teams over the weekend at Iowa City West where Kaden Amigon was fourth in the 100 and long jump for the boys and Bella Forbes was seventh in shot put for the girls. At their last full team meet, the Wildcats were dominant at Central City with the boys taking the title behind championships in eight events including Amigon in the 100, 200 and long jump, Russell Coil in the shot put and discus, the 4×800 of Damian Vergara, Juan Chairez, Dakota Aney and Tyson Kaalberg, the shuttle hurdle team of Lamar Ceant, Riley and Tyson Kaalberg and Amigon, and Alexander Rees in the 110 hurdles. Highlights for the Wildcat girls included Forbes winning the shot put and going second in the discus with Kymila Bacon second in the 100.
These teams will be joined by Central Lee, Van Buren and the home Falcons. Action starts tonight at 4:30 at L-M High School.
