The Henry County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Oklahoma woman earlier this week for possessing approximately 30 pounds of marijuana.
At around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, a driving complaint was received for a red Chevrolet Cruze with Oklahoma license plates. According to the call, the vehicle was traveling westbound on Highway 34, swerving all over the roadway.
The Sheriff’s Office identified the vehicle on Highway 218 near MM43 traveling northbound above the posted speed limit and swerving within their lane. After initiating a traffic stop, the driver was identified as 33-year-old Cynthia Ruiz of Bixby, Oklahoma. An investigation into the stop resulted in the marijuana being found inside the vehicle.
Ruiz was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a class D felony, failure to affix drug stamp, also a class D felony, possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. Ruiz also received citations for speeding and improper use of lanes.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, April 26 at 9 a.m.
