A pair of KCII area schools were under the Friday night lights this week, on the oval, when the Hillcrest Academy boys and girls and the Sigourney girls traveled to BGM. The Hillcrest girls finished in fifth of seven teams with 70 total points. BCLUW won the team title with 137 points. The Ravens had six championship events on the night. Rya Scott swept her events. Her quad titles came in the 100 in 13 seconds even, the 200 in 27.63 seconds, the 400 in 1:03.81 and long jump at 15’7.5”. Marie Yoder was a double distance champ, winning the 3000 in 11:54.10 and the 1500 in 5:24.56. Other Hillcrest highlights included Siena Stanerson third in the 3000 and fifth in the 800, and fifth for Morgyn Nafziger in the 100.
The Sigourney girls were seventh with 34 points. Four third place finishes led the Savages including Kia Montgomery in the 200 at 29.26 seconds, Josephine Moore in the discus with a toss of 77 feet, the sprint medley team of Erin Dawson, Carly Goodwin, Regan Clarahan and Montgomery at 2:12.50 and the D med with Clarahan, Dawson, Goodwin and Addison Yates at 5:17.11. Yates also finished fourth in the 3000, as did Clarahan in the 400 hurdles.
The Hillcrest boys were eighth of nine teams with 21 points. Lynnville-Sully won the team championship with 118 points. The Ravens had one event title on the night with Owen Scott winning long jump, flying 21’5.5”. Other top performances included Scott second in high jump and fourth in the 100. Braden Hartstock was ninth in the mile.
