Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk athletes see a full schedule of competition Monday. The Golden Hawk girls golf team travels to Wilton for a River Valley Conference dual. The Hawks were second at their home 18-hole Invitational at Kalona Friday with a team score of 379, led by Madi Davidson and Gabi Robertson with 91s. This year, Mid-Prairie has a 199 team average per nine holes with a 189 low and a 375 team average per 18 with a 370. Individually leaders include, Robertson with a 46 average on nine, followed by Davidson at 48. For 18, that pair has a team best 91 average. Wilton also played Friday at the Golden Hawk Invite where they were third of nine schools with a 404, with Imogen Jirak’s 94 the top card. Team-wise, the Beavers have a 217 average per nine with a 209 low and a 404 average and low on 18. Individually, Ava Barnett has a team best 47 average on nine, and her 94 is tied with Jirak for the team lead on 18. Last year, the Hawks beat the Beavers 193-226 in Kalona. Action starts tonight at 4p.m. and continues into the evening at the Wahkonsa Golf Course.
The Mid-Prairie boys and girls soccer teams also take a road trip tonight when they visit Tipton for a pair of River Valley Conference matches. The Golden Hawk boys are 5-4 overall, after a 4-1 Friday win over Anamosa, where Tucker Miller had two goals with an assist and Hudson Ehrenfelt and Drake Price recorded their first varsity goals. On the season, the Hawks have outscored their opponents 15-13 in total with 147 shots, 67 on goal, 42 corner kicks and 11 assists, with 63 saves and an 83% team percentage. Beau Flynn’s four goals lead the team, Tucker Miller, Adrian Sanchez and Sawyer Hough all have two assists to split the team lead, and Joe Hall has 45 saves and an 83% save percentage.
The Tipton boys are 5-1 this season and an unbeaten 4-0 in the River Valley Conference. They got by Prince of Peace Friday at home 3-2 behind one goal and one assist each from Miles Christian, Preston Daedlow and Jayson Johnson. This year, the Tigers have outscored their opponents 18-8 in total with 123 shots, 72 on goal, 15 assists and 63 saves with a 94% team save percentage. Individually, Christian’s seven goals are best, he, Johnson and Daedlow all have three assists and Zach Binns has made 63 saves in goal with a 94% save percentage. All-time, Mid-Prairie is 3-0 against the Tigers including a 2-1 win last year.
The Golden Hawk girls are 5-3 overall after a 3-1 Friday setback in Wellman against Anamosa, where Elise Gingerich scored the only goal. On the year, the Hawks have been outscored 21-16 in total with 102 shots, 53 on goal, 27 corners, and seven assists with 129 saves and an 86% team save percentage. Individually, Gingerich has 12 goals, she and Zoey Curtiss have two assists each and Niva Helmuth has 84 saves in goal with an 84% save percentage. Tipton is 2-3 this year after beating Northeast Goose Lake 7-0 on Friday behind a Carly Langenberg hat trick with three assists, and a two goal, two assist match for Kennedy Daufeldt. On the year, the Tigers are outscoring their opponents 16-15 in total with 139 shots, 71 on goal with 14 corner kicks and 10 assists to go with 48 saves and a 77% team save percentage. Individually, Langenberg leads with seven goals and four assists. In goal, Emma Hartman has 48 saves with a 77% save percentage. Mid-Prairie is 3-0 all-time in this series including a 2-1 overtime win last season. Action starts tonight at 5p.m. with the girls match in Tipton.
