Two KCII area boys golf teams travel to West Liberty today for the 18-hole Comet Invitational. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks see their first action in nearly a week. They were last on the course Wednesday when they traveled to the Raider Invitational at Williamsburg, finishing fifth of nine schools with a 343 team score for 18, led by Drew Schlabaugh’s third place card of 78. On the year, the Hawks have a team average of 172 per nine with a 166 low and 344 for 18 with a 343 low. Individually, Clayton Davidson leads with a nine hole average of 40, followed by Bryce Henry and Schlabaugh both at 44. For 18, Schlabaugh’s 80 average is best followed by Grayson Gingerich at 86.

Winfield-Mt. Union was in Kalona Monday for a Southeast Iowa Superconference dual with Hillcrest Academy where they fell 180-197 despite a medalist runner-up round of 44 from Carter Loyd. On the year, the Wolves have a 182 team average per nine with a 176 low and a 354 average per 18 with a 348 low. Individual leaders include Loyd’s 43, followed by Cody Milk’s 47 for nine. For 18 it’s Loyd at 85 and Milks at 89.

Joining these two schools today are Dyersville-Beckman, Camanche, Durant, Iowa City Regina, Tipton, Wapello, West Branch, Wilton and the home Comets. Action starts at noon and continues all afternoon and evening in West Liberty.
