Today is busy for the Hillcrest Academy Athletics department with three teams in action. The Raven boys and girls golf teams travel to Keota this evening. The Hillcrest boys and girls both hosted Winfield-Mt. Union Monday night in a Southeast Iowa Superconference dual where the Raven boys scored a 180-197 win over the Wolves led by meet medalist Rowan Miller with a 39. On the year, the boys have a 179 team average on nine with a 174 low and a 366 average per 18 with a 357 low. They are led individually by Miller at 37 per nine and 81 per 18. Liam Schrock is second per nine at 43 and Seth Ours is second per 18 at 90. The Hillcrest girls were beaten by the Lady Wolves Monday 252-257 despite a medalist PR of 54 for Maria Portillo. The Raven girls have a 353 nine hole team average with a 257 low. They are led individually by Claire Withrow’s 77 average.
The Keota boys were a big winner at Tri-County Monday, beating out four other South Iowa Cedar League schools with their team score 326 for 18, led by Sawyer Stout’s medalist runner-up 75. On the year, Keota has a team average of 167 per nine with a low of 161 and a 334 team average on 18 with a 325 low. Individually, Cole Kindred leads with a 40 average for nine, followed by Stout and Tanner Waterhouse both at 42. For 18 it’s Kindred and stout with 80 averages. The Keota girls are led by Lainey Swanson with a 55 average per nine and Ava Greiner at 74. These two teams will also be joined today by English Valleys. The Raven boys won this sevent last year. The Hillcrest Academy soccer team takes the pitch tonight against Wapello. The Ravens are an unbeaten 6-0 this season, 4-0 in the Superconference after dispatching Cedar Valley Christian Friday 5-0 behind two goals and an assist for Rowan Miller, a goal and two assists for Micah Gerber, a goal each for Jesse Blossom and Mason Bender, two assists for Seth Ours and a four save clean sheet for Kyle Neuschwander. This year, Hillcrest has outscored opponents 24-2 in total including four shut outs. They have racked up 103 shots, 60 on goal, 23 corner kicks, and 20 assists with 30 saves and a 94% team save percentage. Individually, Miller leads with eight goals scored, Gerber has seven and Blossom three. Ours leads with five assists, Gerber has four, Blossom, Mason Swartzendruber and Lincoln Miller all have three. In goal, Neuschwander has stopped all 16 shots he’s faced.
Wapello is 0-6 this season. They were ten-goaled by Central Lee on April 15th. This season they have been outscored 53-4 with 49 shots, 28 on goal, eight corners, and three assists to go with 89 saves and a 63% team save percentage. Individually, Jaxon Marshall, Jack Boysen, Alex Berry and Angel Fernandez all have one goal. Boysen leads with two assists, and in goal, Will Hoopes has made 57 saves with a 64% save percentage. The Ravens are 11-0 all-time against the Indians, winning by a combined 75-5 in those meetings. Action starts tonight at 5p.m. at the Wapello Athletic Complex.
