The Washington Demons rounded out a perfect regular season of boys’ golf in conference action yesterday by winning the team championship at the Mount Pleasant Invitational. Washington’s team score of 296 strokes was 54 less than the second-place and hosting Panthers at Mount Pleasant Golf & Country Club.
Demon senior Roman Roth was again the individual champion, birdieing the final three holes of the front nine as part of five total birdies and a bogey-free, five-under-par round of 67. Rajan Roth was second overall with a two-over 74, while fellow sophomore Drew Conrad was third with a four-over 76 and senior Teague Mayer took fourth with a seven-over 79.
Senior Luke Beenblossom fired a nine-over 81 and sophomore Carson Brown added an 84 as Washington runs its winning streak in Southeast Conference events to 12. The Demons are in action again today at another 18-hole tournament, this one at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa.
