Chalk up another victory for Washington Demon boys’ golf after they brought home the team championship from a tournament at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa yesterday. Washington’s team score of 304 strokes was 15 less than second-place Winterset and Pella Christian.
Roman Roth added another victory to his near-perfect senior season for the Demons, winning the tournament title by shooting a one-under-par round of 71. Sophomore teammate Drew Conrad finished tied for fifth overall with a four-over 76, while senior Teague Mayer was one stroke behind Conrad in a tie for seventh.
Sophomore Rajan Roth just missed the top 10 for Washington with an 80, while senior Luke Beenblossom’s 82 and sophomore Carson Brown’s 89 rounded out the sixth team victory for the Demons in seven events this season. The Sigourney Savages also took part in the tournament at Oskaloosa and finished 10th as a team.
The Washington girls would finish seventh as a team at the Lady Spartan Invitational yesterday at Saddleback Ridge Golf Course in Solon. Senior Maci Williams led the Demons by shooting 91, while junior Lauren Hinrichsen finished with 98.
