turkey-4

Iowa’s fourth and final spring turkey season kicked off yesterday. The longest of the four seasons will run through Sunday, May 12.

Last spring, hunters reported a record harvest of more than 14,000 turkeys, with birds harvested in all 99 counties. Through the first three seasons in 2024, nearly 10,000 turkeys have been harvested statewide. This includes 117 in Iowa County, 96 in Johnson County, 73 in Washington County, 60 in Louisa County, 52 in Keokuk County, 52 in Jefferson County, and 49 in Henry County.

Iowa hunters were able to purchase up to two tags this spring with at least one being for season four. Successful hunters are required to report their harvest by midnight of the day after it is recovered. This can be done through the Go Outdoors Iowa app, online at iowadnr.gov, calling the number on the tag, or at any license vendor during regular business hours.
