April 22nd, the Community Foundation of Washington County (CFWC) distributed over $44,000 in funds to 24 Washington County non-profits at a reception held at the Washington Country Club. These organizations currently have endowment funds invested with the CFWC and their lead organization, the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation. Since its beginning in 2006, the Community Foundation of Washington County has distributed over $494,000 to non-profit causes here in Washington County. Organizations receiving distributions are: Latinos for Washington, Saint James Foundation, Washington Music Boosters, Washington County Hospital Foundation, Friends of Lake Darling State Park, Hospice of Washington County, Washington County YMCA, Washington Community School District Foundation, Washington County Fair Association, Mid-Prairie Foundation, Washington Betterment Foundation, Highland Community Schools, Kalona Public Library Foundation, Washington Public Library Foundation, Crooked Creek Christian Camp, HACAP, Kalona Historical Society, Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center, Wellman Lime Creek Cemetery, Wellman Emergency Services, Wellman YMCA, Wellman Rotary, Wellman Goodwin Senior Dining and United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties.
