gerber-and-bender

In a matchup featuring a pair of boys soccer teams from the KCII listening area Monday night in Kalona, the Hillcrest Academy Ravens were a wire-to-wire winner over the Highland Huskies by a 5-1 score. The Ravens found the back of the net twice in the first half, the first, a Mason Bender finish on a Micah Gerber assist, the second a Gerber goal on a corner kick that bent in to the back of the net. After intermission, Gerber scored on a scrum in the box, and less then a minute later, he finished the hat trick with a goal on a feed from Bender. Down 4-0, Highland broke through with their lone tally of the night in the 63rd minute when Louis Horak beat the Raven defense. Hillcrest finished the scoring with a Mason to Mason match as Helmuth found Bender with the assist for his second goal of the night.

The Ravens had 27 shots, 20 on goal, and nine corners. Gerber finished with the hat trick and an assist, Bender had two tallies and an assist. Helmuth added an assist.
