The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls and boys soccer teams dropped a pair of River Valley Conference rivalry matches Monday to Iowa City Regina. The Golden Hawk girls were beaten in Wellman by a 2-0 score. Things were locked up scoreless at half, before Regina got on the board in the 45th minute. The Regals would add an insurance tally in the last 10 minutes of the match to put things away. Regina beat the Hawks on the stat sheet in total shots 30-8, shots on goal 20-3 and corner kicks 4-1. Gabby Sueppel and Alison Brandt did the scoring for Regina. Niva Helmuth had 13 saves for the Golden Hawks. With the loss, Mid-Prairie is now 6-4 on the year as the Regals move to 6-5. The Hawks are back on the pitch Thursday when they host Central Lee.

The boys contest also went to the top ranked Regals 3-1 in Iowa City. Regina scored twice in the first half to build a 2-0 advantage, with each team finding the back of the net once in the second stanza. The Golden Hawks goal came on a Tucker Miller PK, his fourth of the season. With the loss, Mid-Prairie drops to 6-5 as the Regals improve to 10-2. The Golden Hawks are back on the pitch Friday when they host the Prince of Peace Irish.
