The Sigourney Savages captured the team championship at this year’s South Iowa Cedar League Boys’ Golf Tournament yesterday at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa. Sigourney’s team score of 336 strokes was three less than second-place BGM and eight better than Montezuma and the Keota Eagles, who were tied for third.
Sophomore Solon Yates led the Savages and was the overall runner-up by shooting a four-over-par round of 76 that included one birdie and five bogeys. Junior Cain Weber shot an 85 for Sigourney, while sophomore teammate Josh Wyatt fired an 87 and freshman Ike Molyneux posted an 88.
Junior Billie Kindred was tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard and had Keota’s top score with an eight-over 80 that featured three birdies and nine bogeys. Cole Kindred was one stroke behind him and was seventh overall, while fellow senior Sawyer Stout shot an 85. Eagle senior Tanner Waterhouse added a 98.
