Hardware is on the line at the Southeast Iowa Superconference Boys Golf Championships at Scheaffer Memorial Golf Course in Fort Madison today. Six schools from the KCII listening area will be among those chasing a championship. That includes last year’s team title winners, the Hillcrest Academy Ravens, who brought home the school’s first ever league championship en route to an undefeated season and a state title. They enter the day with a 180 team average per nine and a 174 low, with a 366 average per 18 and a 357 low. The Ravens are led individually by sophomore Rowan Miller’s 37 average per nine, including a 32 low, with sophomore Liam Schrock at a 43 average. On 18, Miller leads with an 81 average and Schrock is second at 88.

The Highland Huskies will be on the course today. They have a team average of 221 per nine with a 212 low. This is their first 18 hole event of the year with a team score. Individually, the Dogs are led by junior Colten Sypherd’s 54 average per nine with William Dunbar at 57. On 18, it’s Sypherd on top at 85, with Dunbar again second at 111. Highland was 10th at this event a year ago.

The Lone Tree Lions will compete Wednesday. They have a team average of 267 per nine with a 208 low. This will be their first 18 hole event of the year with a team score. Individually, senior Dominic Graap has a nine average of 62 with junior Lukas Fuhrmeister and junior Jack Patterson each at 67. Lone Tree was 12th at this event a year ago.

The Columbus Wildcats will take the course today. The Wildcats have a team average card of 206 per nine with a 200 low, and a 416 average and low for 18. Top ‘Cat by the numbers this season is senior Cael Phillips on nine with a 50 average. On 18, junior Ryan Coil is best with a 99 average. Columbus was 11th at this event a year ago.

The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves will be in Fort Madison today. WMU has a team average of 180 per nine with a 172 low and a 358 average on 18 with a 348 low. Individually, senior Carter Loyd is the numbers leader with a 43 average on nine and an 87 average on 18. The Wolves are ranked No. 13 in Class 1A this week by the Iowa Association of Golf Coaches. Loyd is ranked No. 30 individually in 1A. They were eighth as a team at this event last season.

The WACO Warriors will also make the trip Wednesday. The Warriors have a 243 team average on nine holes with a 224 low. Individually, freshman Malachai Rinner has a team best 55 average.

Joining these schools today are Louisa-Muscatine, Wapello, No. 22 in Class 2A Central Lee, No. 21 in 2A Mediapolis, Burlington Notre Dame, Van Buren, Danville, Holy Trinity Catholic and New London. There are a total of 16 ranked golfers in the field. Action starts at 9:30 this morning and continues all afternoon and evening in Fort Madison.
