The Washington Demon track and field teams had a good showing Monday at the Brookhart-Crew Relays in Fairfield, as the girls finished second in team scoring and the boys were third as a team.

The Washington girls were led by three individual winners. Sophomore Leighton Messinger won the 400-meter hurdles run for the Demons in one minute seven seconds and cleared five feet even to tie for first in the high jump.

Senior Abigail Kleese was the champion of the 400-meter dash for Washington by crossing the finish line in one minute five seconds, while sophomore teammate Iris Dahl took the title in the 1,500 meters in four minutes 49 seconds. The Demons also won the 4-by-400-meter relay by clocking at 5:28.

Junior Lauren Horak was second place in the 800 for Washington, as was junior Quincy Griffis in the 3,000 and sophomore Ryen Pepper in the 400 hurdles. Demon freshman Jaedyn Moore finished third in the 100, as did senior Amelia Dahl in the 3,000.

Washington sophomore Addison Miller won bronze in the 400 while also finishing tied for fifth in the high jump. Junior Rachel Sands was fourth in the 100 for the Demons, as was sophomore Leighton Salazar in the long jump.

Juniors Isabella Lujan and Kendall Hinrichsen took fifth place in the 1,500 and the 100 hurdles, respectively. Washington also ended up third in the 4-by-200; fourth in the distance medley; and second in the 4-by-100, 4-by-800 and sprint medley.

The Demon boys produced a winner in Greyson Hartman, who was the champion of the shot put with a top toss of 49 feet 10 inches. The freshman was also fifth in the discus throw.

Senior Alec Ulin claimed a silver medal in the 200 for the Demons, as did freshman Ethan Hotchkiss in the half mile. Washington senior Micah Rees was third in the 800, as was sophomore Carson Ryan in the 400 hurdles.

While juniors Keider Gomez-Valdez and Tyler Alderton were fifth in the 100 and 800, respectively, the Demons also got fourth-place finishes from sophomore Kael Williams in the 100; junior Jayfred Espinosa in the 200; sophomore Rafael Miranda Jr. in the 400; sophomore Caden Greiner in the 110 hurdles; and junior Logan McDole in the 400 hurdles.

Washington also finished runner-up in both the 4-by-100 and 4-by-800 while taking fourth in both the 4-by-400 and the distance medley. The Demons took bronze in the 4-by-200, the sprint medley and the shuttle hurdles.
