High school seniors from across the State gathered in Des Moines on Sunday for the 2024 Iowa Governor’s Scholar Ceremony.

The Governor’s Scholar Program began in 2003 and is presented by the Governor’s Office, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and the Iowa Farm Bureau. It recognizes high-achieving academic seniors, who received a photo plaque and commemorative certificate. The largest 64 Iowa schools select two students for the award, while the others invite one.

Governor’s Scholars in the KCII listening area include Phoebe Shetler of Mid-Prairie, Abby Kacmarynski of Hillcrest Academy, Halle Hazelett of Highland, Afton Wilkerson of Winfield-Mt. Union, Brynna Schwab of Columbus, Sawyer Stout of Keota, Reid Molyneux of Sigourney, Meredith Roth of WACO, and Ethan Bockelman of Lone Tree.
