The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys golf team competed Wednesday at the River Valley Conference championship meet at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course. The Golden Hawks were eighth of 15 teams with their overall score of 356 for the 18 hole event. Dyersville-Beckman won the conference championship with a 314. The Hawks were led by Grayson Gingerich’s 85, that included a 41 on the back nine. He finished 22nd overall and earned honorable mention All-River Valley honors. He spoke with KCII Sports after the tournament about his day.
Gingerich said, “My chipping and my driving have been pretty good. Those are things you can clean-up nicely and get them to work for you. Hole one I pared so that was good. Hole 13 I pared. I was pretty far out and had a two putt to make a par. A lot of pars today. It’s fun (to hear my name announced) I’m happy to see my teammates happy for me.”
Other Golden Hawk scores included Bryce Henry 88, Drew Schlabaugh 90, Clayton Davidson 93, Ace Peck 96 and Denver Nelson 98. Mid-Prairie is back on the course tonight when they take on West Branch.
