A pair of local boys’ soccer teams came up short Tuesday. The Highland Huskies fell to Danville 9-2 on the road. Despite junior Jared Diaz and freshman Hunter Seibel scoring, Highland trailed by five goals at halftime and could never recover. Diaz also had an assist as the Huskies fall to 2-5 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and 4-7 overall.

Sigourney-Keota also lost, surrendering five goals in each half to West Branch in a 10-0 defeat at the hands of the fourth-ranked team in Class 1A. SK is now 1-8 and will look for a bounce-back tomorrow against Albia, while Highland’s next game is also tomorrow against Cedar Valley Christian.
