The best on the oval and in the field will be at Roth Field in Wayland tonight for the Southeast Iowa Superconference track and field championships, including athletes from six KCII area schools.

The Hillcrest Academy Ravens will participate. They were last in action one week ago in Wayland for the Ekstrand Relays where the girls finished as team runners-up, keyed by titles from Rya Scott in the long jump, 100, and 200 and Marie Yoder in the 1500 and 3000. The Raven boys scored 24 points with runner-up finishes from Owen Scott in long jump, Kale Bailey in the 400 and Braden Hartsock in the two-mile.

The Highland boys and girls hosted their Senior Night meet Monday. The Huskies scored 37 points on the girls side led by a runner-up for the 4×200 team of Alexa Hahn, Hailey Brun, Lilly Barre and Grace Prybil, Prybil third in the 100, and third for Mackenzie Davis in the 100 hurdles. The Highland boys had six points, scoring events for the Huskies included Caden Day fourth in the 200, a sixth place finish in the sprint medley with Jackson Robinson, Brixton Rust, Jackson Schneider and Elvin Hernandez, and Schneider sixth in the 110 hurdles.

Lone Tree ran last at Columbus on Monday. The Lady Lions were second as a team led by an Ava Christofferson championship in the 100, a Rylie Shield title in the 200 and wins by the 4×100, 4×200, 4×800 and sprint medley. For the Lone Tree boys, Hayden Yoder was a winner in shot put.

Columbus was also in action on their home track for Senior Night where the boys rolled, winning the team title with 167 points and a dozen event championships. Kaden Amigon won the 100, 200 and long jump, Ty Muniz the mile, Russel Coil the discus, Alexander Rees high jump, and Cade Storm the 110 hurdles to go with victories from the shuttle hurdle, 4×100, sprint medley and distance medley teams. The Columbus girls were third at their home meet and took home three event titles with Isabel Rendon winning the 800, Iris Garza the 1500 and a victory for the distance medley team.

The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves ran last at Ekstrand a week ago. The boys won the team championship with 142 points. The Wolves had wins in the 4×200, sprint medley and distance medley relays along with Gabe Hemsworth in the 400, Kohlby Newsom in the 800, Jake Edwards in high jump and Cooper Buffington in discus. For the Lady Wolves, they were led to a sixth place team finish by event championships from Josie Nelson in the 100 hurdles and Tessa Huston in the 400 hurdles.

The WACO Warriors were also last in action on their home track last week for Ekstrand. The Warrior boys were tied for third as they got championships from their 4×100 and shuttle hurdle teams. The Warrior girls were fourth as a team with Carlee Lunsford winning the 800.

The Columbus boys and the Pekin girls are the defending team conference champions from 2023. The six area teams will be joined tonight by Central Lee, Danville, Louisa-Muscatine, Mediapolis, New London, Pekin, Van Buren, and Burlington Notre Dame. Action starts with field events at 4p.m. and continues into the evening at Roth Field in Wayland.
