The Washington Demon boys’ golf team finished off a perfect season inside conference play by winning the 2024 Southeast Conference Tournament yesterday at Mount Pleasant Golf & Country Club.

Washington not only finished more than 40 strokes ahead of second-place Mount Pleasant, but the Demons set a new school record for lowest team score by posting a 288.

Washington senior Roman Roth was the individual Southeast Conference Tournament champion after shooting a blistering five-under-par round of 67 over 18 holes.

Fresh off playing in a U.S. Open Qualifier on Monday in the Chicagoland area, Roth birdied the final four holes of the front nine and went on to have seven birdies and just two bogeys.

Roth fired a seven-over 79 at the U.S. Open Qualifier at the Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinios, and while he was tied for 31st overall, Roth only finished seven strokes back of the even-par score that would have been good enough to move on to the next round of qualifying.

Rajan Roth was the Southeast Conference Tournament runner-up for the Demons after shooting a one-under 71 that featured four birdies and two bogeys.

Fellow sophomore Drew Conrad had a pair of birdies on his way to a three-over 75 that made him third overall, while senior Luke Beenblossom finished fourth on the individual leaderboard with a four-over 76 and sophomore Carson Brown also snagged All-Tournament honors by finishing fifth with a seven-over 79.

Washington wins the Southeast Conference Tournament for a second straight year and has now won nine of the 11 meets they’ve played in this season, including every conference meet over the last 2 years.

The Demons will now prepare for a return trip to Mount Pleasant this coming Wednesday when they start the postseason with a Class 3A sectional tournament.
