The Highland Huskies ended the week with a 3-1 victory over Cedar Valley Christian in boys’ soccer Friday. Highland scored the only goal of the first half thanks to junior Jared Diaz, and the Huskies built on their halftime advantage with tallies from freshmen Jose Ramirez and Hunter Siebel to end a four-game losing streak. The win helps Highland improve to 5-7, more wins than the Huskies have had in the previous four seasons combined.
The WACO Warriors were not as fortunate Friday night at home against Danville. Senior Colton Leichty and junior Joel Meyer each scored to help WACO keep the match level at 2 going into halftime, but the Warriors couldn’t keep it going in the second half, as Danville pulled away to win it 5-2. The loss drops to WACO to 4-6 overall, including a 3-4 record in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.
