It’s a busy portion of the schedule for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys soccer team as they are back on the pitch Monday in Wellman hosting the Cascade Cougars in a River Valley Conference match. Mid-Prairie is 7-5 this year after a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Prince of Peace on Friday night where Peyton Fox tied the game with 10 minutes left and Drake Price won in the final minute for Mid-Prairie. On the year, the Hawks have outscored their opponents 20-18 in total with 198 shots, 90 on goal, 50 corner kicks, 15 assists and 90 saves with an 83% team save percentage. Individually, Tucker Miller and Beau Flynn each have four goals, Miller leads with four assists and in goal, Joe Hall has 74 saves with an 84% save percentage.
Cascade is 5-8 this year, following a 4-2 loss to No. 2 Iowa City Regina where Mason Ortiz and Juan Alvarado each had a goal. On the season the Cougars have been outscored 46-32 with 217 shots, 96 on goal, 26 corner kicks, 13 assists and 122 saves with a 73% team save percentage. Individually, Alvarado has a team best 19 goals. Ortiz and Charlie Thole each have three assists and Troy Leahman has allowed 45 goals as the keeper. Mid-Prairie is 3-0 all-time in this series, including a 3-2 victory a year ago.
It’s also Senior Night for the Golden Hawks where they will honor 11 players including Drake Price, Tucker Miller, Joe Hall, Daniel Rodgers, Beau Flynn, Hugo Banuelos, Sawyer Hough, Dylan Henry, Drew Schlabaugh, Anthony Culbertson and Jackson Miller.
