In their final tune-up before the postseason, the Washington Demon boys’ golf team took part in a meet with Little Hawkeye Conference schools yesterday at Westwood Golf Course in Newton.
Washington finished third as a team with a total score of 320 strokes, 12 more than the winners from Pella Christian and just two away from catching second-place Pella.
Roman Roth led the Demons by shooting a four-over-par round of 75 across 18 holes. The senior had an eagle on the eighth hole and a birdie on the ninth while also posting seven bogeys on his way to finishing tied for third overall.
Washington sophomore Rajan Roth eagled both the eighth and ninth holes while also finishing with a birdie and seven bogeys en route to a six-over 77 that had sixth on the individual leaderboard.
Senior Luke Beenblossom and sophomore Drew Conrad each shot 84 for the Demons, while sophomore Carson Brown had a 92 and senior Teague Mayer fired a 94. Washington now prepares for the Class 3A Sectional 5 tournament tomorrow in Mount Pleasant, where the Demons will look to win a second straight team sectional championship.
