“Summer Learning Loss” is the phenomenon that occurs during summer break when children are away from their school learning environment. The U.S. Department of Education encourages parents to purposefully find ways to keep children social, creative, active, and healthy during the summer months. Washington County Regional Center is once again offering two camps this summer that will keep students engaged. Kirkwood for Kids Camp brings students from multiple school districts together to delve into science, cooking, math, art, coding, outdoor play, and team building. Camp is held June 17-20, 2024, 9 am to noon. Kirkwood Camp Exploration is offered exclusively to middle school-aged students to help explore an exciting potential career interest area: graphic design, automotive, construction, welding and interior design. Taught by local industry professionals, the camp is July 15-17, 2024, from 9 am to noon. You can find a link with this news story to register at KCIIRadio.com.
