Banners and State bids are coming home with the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls and boys track and field teams after another successful 2A State Qualifier Meet at Eddyville-Blakesburg Thursday. The Golden Hawk girls were team champions for the fourth year in a row with 160.5 points, beating out the host Rockets in second place with 130.5. Events that finished first or second automatically qualified for the state meet. The Hawks had three event championships on the night with Jovi Evans winning the 100 in 12.43 seconds and the 200 in 26.05 seconds. Emma Lueck was long jump champ with a distance of 17’3.5″. Runners-up that auto-qualified included Behla Schmidt in the 100 hurdles, Danielle Hostetler in the 1500 and 3000, Harper Pacha in shot put, the shuttle hurdle with Sophie Miller, Olivia Schlabach, Nora Pennington and Schmidt, the 4×800 of Greta Sieren, Annika Poll, Brooklyn Stutzman and Hostetler and the distance medley with Dakota Mitchell, Lueck, Evans and Hostetler. Third place finishers on the State bubble include Abby Fleming in the 1500 and 3000, Pacha in discus, Paige Safly in high jump, the sprint medley of Mitchell, Lanee Duwa, Lueck and Sieren, and the 4×100 of Mitchell, Myli Hershberger, Lueck and Evans.

For the Golden Hawk boys they were team runners-up with their score of 85 points. Mediapolis won the meet with 170. Those on their way to Des Moines as event champions include Jayden Stafford in the wheelchair 100, 200, 400 and 800s in times of 18.08 seconds, 34.45 seconds, 1:17.22 and 2:23.71 respectively. Landon Sullivan was the long jump champ clearing 21’3.75″. Jayse Yoder is on his way to Des Moines as runner-up in the half mile. Those with third place finishes on the State bubble include Emmett Swartzentruber in the mile and two-mile, Burke Berry in discus and shot put, and the 4×800 of Thomas Flynn, Yoder, Preston Yutzy and Swartzendruber.

The final list of qualifiers will be verified by the State Friday.
