The first step toward a three-peat happens today for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls golf team when they host the Class 2A first round regional at the Kalona Golf Course. The Golden Hawks come into the day in search of their third straight trip to the State Tournament, a feat never before accomplished in program history. Mid-Prairie has a 34-4 overall record this season after a win over Durant on Monday. The Hawks made it back-to-back River Valley Conference team Championships last week in Muscatine with their score of 373 to win the title by two led by All-Conference performances for Elliot Debler, Addison English, Madi Davidson and Gabi Robertson. Mid-Prairie is ranked No. 7 in Class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association. The Hawks have a team average of 199 per nine holes with a 189 low and a 377 average on 18 with a 370 low. Individually, Robertson’s 48 and Davidson’s 49 averages lead the way per nine with Davidson, Robertson, English and Debler all with averages on 18 under the century mark at 91, 95, 96 and 97 respectively. In this week’s 2A poll, Davidson is No. 24, Robertson is No. 34, Debler is No. 41 and English is No. 50.

Joining the Golden Hawks today are Burlington Notre Dame, No. 27 Central Lee, No. 28 Mediapolis, Tipton, Van Buren, No. 18 West Liberty and Wilton. There are eight golfers ranked in the top 100 of 2A in today’s field. The top two teams, along with the top six individuals and ties advance to the 2A Regional Final Wednesday at West Liberty. Action starts at 10a.m. and continues all day Friday at the Kalona Golf Course.
