*MONDAY’S ACTIVITIES ARE CANCELLED*

National Skilled Nursing Care Week is May 12-18, and Parkview Manor in Wellman has several events planned to celebrate.

Open to the public on Monday, May 13 is the Car Cruise, Ice Cream Social and 50’s Party. The Classy Chassy Cruisers will meet at the 4H Fairgrounds in Iowa City and leave for Parkview Manor at 9:15 a.m. Once there, the 50’s party is from 10 a.m. to noon. All are invited to wear their best 50’s attire, view the cars, and enjoy ice cream floats. A taco truck will also be on site with food and drinks for purchase.

While Monday is open to the public, the rest of the week will recognize the residents and staff of Parkview Manor. Each day features a dress-up theme, food, games and other fun activities. Darcy Meder, Social Service Director for MGM Healthcare, spoke to KCII about the importance of the Parkview staff during National Skilled Nursing Care Week. “Our nurses and CNA’s they are frontline workers. They are the backbone to our treatment and care of the residents.”

Currently in the U.S., there are approximately 1.5 million skilled nurses caring for more than 800,000 residents annually.
