A dog breeder in Riverside has been cited in the Humane Society of the United State’s “Horrible Hundred” report. The list, which details violations found at various puppy mills and dog-breeding facilities across the country, named BR’s Dobermans of Riverside as a first-time offender.

BR’s Dobermans is owned by Terry Yoder. According to the report, a January 2024 inspection found multiple violations at the facility. These included holes in the floor that could make the dogs susceptible to injury, an excessive amount of trash throughout the facility, and incomplete veterinary records. State inspectors attempted to return in February, but were refused by the owner, as repairs and cleaning had not been done. The report states that one more visit was made in February and another in March, but numerous violations remained.

BR’s Dobermans is one of 15 Iowa puppy mills listed on this year’s report and the second from Riverside in as many years. In 2023, repeat-offender Sunset Valley Farms was cited. Its owner, Loren Yoder, is currently facing misdemeanor charges for his involvement. To view the “Horrible Hundred” in its entirety, click here.
