The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls soccer teams dropped both ends of a road River Valley Conference doubleheader Friday to the Bellevue Comets on their Senior Night. The Golden Hawk girls were doubled up 2-1. All of the offense happened in the first half. Bellevue’s Cadence Veach scored twice, while Mid-Prairie got on the board with an Elise Gingerich goal on an Avery Helmuth assist. The Comets outshot the Hawks 19-17 in total, including 10-9 in shots on goal. Mid-Prairie won corners 4-2. Niva Helmuth made 11 saves in goal for the Golden Hawks. The Hawks end the regular season at 7-7 and look ahead to Wednesday when they open the playoffs at Anamosa. Bellevue improves to 4-8.

In the nightcap, the Comets shut out the Hawks 3-0. Bellevue led 1-0 at half and scored twice after intermission for insurance. The Golden Hawks outshot the Comets 20-15, including 10-7 in shots on goal and won corners 5-3. Ben Meyer scored twice for Bellevue and Spencer Abbott had the other goal. Joe Hall had four saves in goal for the Golden Hawks. Mid-Prairie drops to 8-7 to end the regular season ahead of tonight’s first round district game against Sigourney-Keota. Bellevue improves to 5-9 with the victory.
