It’s go-time for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls soccer team tonight when they travel to Anamosa for the first round of the Class 1A Regional Tournament. Mid-Prairie comes into action with a 7-7 overall record after a 2-1 road loss at Bellevue Friday where Elise Gingerich had the lone goal, Avery Helmuth an assist and Niva Helmuth had 11 saves. On the season, the Hawks have been outscored 31-27 in total with 191 shots, 107 on goal, 49 corner kicks, nine assists and 193 saves with an 87% team save percentage. Individually, Elise Gingerich is the leader with 13 goals, Zoey Curtiss and Lydia Beachy have each scored four times. Gingerich is also the leader with three assists, Curtiss has two, and in goal, Niva Helmuth’s 125 saves are best and Ruth Witthoft leads with a 92% save percentage.

Anamosa is 9-3 this season after a 6-1 loss to Dyersville-Beckman on Friday. This year, the Blue Raiders have outscored their opponents 57-27 in total with 393 shots, 189 on goal, 43 corners, 39 assists and 128 saves with an 83% team save percentage. Individual leaders include, Chloe Breitbach with 25 goals and 19 assists, in goal, Leah Whitson has allowed 27 goals.

These teams met in Wellman April 19th, a 3-1 Anamosa win, the second in a row in the series for the Raiders. The winner of tonight’s contest advances to the second round of Regionals Tuesday to take on the winner of Hudson and Benton. Action starts tonight at 7p.m. at Downing Field in Anamosa.
