In anticipation of the annual bike race rolling through Brighton this summer, the City Council approved a RAGBRAI Resolution at its meeting last week.

The Resolution deals primarily with commercial booths and vendors. When RAGBRAI passes through Brighton on Friday, July 26 all vendors selling to the public will need to obtain a Commercial Booth Permit from the City Clerk. There will be no fee for in-town organizations, while out-of-town organizations will be charged $300. Any person trying to sell food, beverages, or merchandise within the City of Brighton on July 26 without the Commercial Booth Permit will be charged with a misdemeanor.

An additional section of the Resolution allows the mayor to place barricades or road blocks in any street, alley, or roadway to redirect vehicular traffic in order to enhance the proper and safe flow of vehicles and riders.

Brighton’s RAGBRAI Resolution is in effect on Friday, July 26 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Day six of RAGBRAI will also pass through Fairfield and Wayland in the KCII listening area, before stopping for the night in Mt. Pleasant.
