Last week, students in the Winfield-Mt. Union Community School District were celebrated for winning the 2023 School Mascot Challenge.

The Mascot Challenge, presented by the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative, pins Iowa schools against each other in a bracket-style competition voted on by the public. The first schools to register for the Annual Walk in October are the ones selected for the Challenge. The Wolves edged out IKM-Manning of Western Iowa last fall to take the crown.

On Friday, May 10, a team with the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative was at WMU to congratulate the winning school, have some fun, and present them with the $1,000 prize. Students were able to enjoy a petting zoo, face painting, kickball and boom stick drumming among other activities.
