As drought conditions continue to fade in the State of Iowa, a large portion of the KCII listening area has become drought-free for the first time in over a year.
While the northwest corner of Keokuk County is classified as abnormally dry, the rest of the County, along with Washington, Jefferson, Henry and Louisa counties have no drought to report. This is according to the U.S. Drought Mitigation Center. Severe and moderate drought, the two lowest ratings on the intensity scale, still exist in the northern half of Iowa and Johnson counties.
As a whole, only about 27 percent of the State is experiencing some sort of drought. Last September, this percentage was nearly 100. To view the drought outlook in your county, the State of Iowa, or the rest of the country, click here.
