The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves are hoping to make some significant strides this softball season after just four wins in 2023. WMU will need to replace graduated seniors Anna Anderson and Keely Malone, who both had batting averages of over .390 and combined for 10 doubles, two home runs, 35 runs batted in and 26 runs scored.
Two key pieces are back for the Winfield-Mount Union lineup. Sophomore Quin Smith hit. 370 with three doubles, three triples, 16 RBI and 19 runs in her debut season, while junior Josie Nelson comes back after scoring a team-high 22 runs last summer.
Smith and fellow sophomores Kellee Milks and Ella Kann will handle the pitching duties for the Wolves. WMU opens the 2024 softball season Tuesday against New London.
