At their meeting last week, the Washington County Riverboat Foundation awarded its 2024 Spring Grants. Among the recipients was the City of Keota, in the amount of $36,200.

These funds will be going towards the new Keota Aquatic Center which was built last year. Keota City Administrator, Alycia Horras, shared the specific plans with KCII. “We’re looking at some additional security lighting for outside around the pool so we can do more of our evening swims, to have a dedicated AED system on site for the pool, we’re looking at a PA sound system so we can of course have music but also to be able to call people in and give warnings if we need to get out of the pool and if our weather is changing on us.” The City also purchased a property west of the pool, with the intent of putting a parking lot there.

The Washington County Riverboat Foundation awarded a total of 24 grants during this spring cycle valued at $3,614,233. The Keota Aquatic Center is expected to open for its first full season later this month.
