A spectacular season for Highland girls’ golf has now reached the ultimate stage in the sport, and the Huskies will chase the ultimate prize as they play in the Class 1A state championships today and tomorrow at American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown.
Highland has put together a marvelous spring, as their victory at the Class 1A Region 5 finals in Moravia last week gives them wins in all but one of the 11 events that they’ve played in.
Adisyn Prottsman has been the lowest-scoring player on the season for the Huskies, averaging an 18-hole round of 89-and-a-half strokes, and the sophomore is coming off a season-low, eight-over-par 80 that gave her third place at the regional finals.
Senior Kelsi Cerny also shot a season-best 84 last week and is making her second straight trip to state after qualifying individually in 2023. Junior Danika Kraus and sophomore Emersyn Schultz have been consistently strong for Highland as well, averaging scores of 97 in 18-hole events and both going as low as 89.
Senior Haley Sands and junior Adeline Krotz round out the roster for the Huskies, who will all tee off this morning at 9 at American Legion Golf Course. Get updates on Highland girls’ golf at the state tournament by listening to KCII and checking the live results page online at KCIIradio.com.
