******DUE TO WEATHER, THIS GAME HAS BEEN CANCELED******

A special presentation of the KCII Area Game of the Week follows the Hillcrest boys of summer to Dyersville and a meeting with the Hawks of Central Lee. The two will square off on the site of the 1989 film Field of Dreams, and you can hear it all on the KCII3 Stream.

The Ravens got off to a great start last night, besting the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves 11-6 in nine innings. They look to build off a strong 2023 campaign that came to a close in the regional final, just shy of the State Tournament. Still, the season included an undefeated Superconference record and district championship. Hillcrest Academy hit .330 as a unit to go with a .463 OBP and .501 slugging percentage. A pitching staff that boasted a 1.84 ERA was backed up by a .935 fielding percentage. Despite losing four seniors in the offseason, the Ravens return plenty of offensive fire power in Liam Schrock, Rowan Miller, and Seth Ours who each hit above .330. Ours and Miller both saw significant time on the mound, as did Phoenix Anderson.

On the other side of the field will be the Central Lee Hawks, who dropped their opener 2-1 in Fort Madison Monday. A 15-8 record last season placed them fourth in the Superconference South, where they eventually fell in the second round of the playoffs to Mediapolis. Much like the Ravens, Central Lee said goodbye to four senior starters last year who helped the team to a .303 average, .428 on-base percentage, and .398 slug. The Hawks hope to improve in the pitching department in 2024, compiling an ERA of 4.53 one season ago.
