The City of Columbus Junction would like to remind its residents that hydrant flushing will begin the last week of May.

Starting Tuesday, May 28, crews will be flushing hydrants, which can cause a temporary fluctuation in water pressure along with potential water discoloration. The color is due to sediments that become unsettled in water mains and can be easily cleared by running cold water in your home for 3-5 minutes. The water is still safe for consumption, but could stain clothing for anyone doing laundry while the flushing takes place. Hydrant flushing is expected to be completed at the end of the week.
