As Memorial Day is observed Monday, southeast Iowa residents will have plenty of opportunities to attend a local service.

A majority of services within the KCII listening area begin at 10 a.m. In Ainsworth, the James Harlan Thoma American Legion Post 351 will present their program at the Ainsworth Community Center. Honors will be rendered at the Oregon Township Cemetery. Swedesburg’s service will be held at the Swedish Heritage Museum. The Riverside VFW Post 6414 along with the Women’s Auxiliary host a service at the Riverside Cemetery. Also at 10 a.m. Monday, a service will be held in the Columbus City Cemetery. Winfield’s service, presented by the American Legion, begins at 10 a.m. in the Presbyterian Church and will conclude at the Winfield Scott Township Cemetery.

At 10:15 a.m. in Kalona, a Memorial Day Service will be held on the west end of the Sharon Hills Cemetery. In Lone Tree, American Legion Post 457 will hold their annual service at 10:30 a.m. The Lone Tree Historical Society will serve a free-will donation meal at the Museum from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
