The Keota Eagles took a pair of losses in baseball and softball Thursday night against Iowa Valley. Keota baseball took the initial lead by breaking up a scoreless tie in the third inning with a pair of runs, but Iowa Valley scored five times over the next three frames to go in front for good and would go on to win 8-3.

Senior Cole Kindred had two hits for the Eagles, including a double, and finished with one run batted in and one run scored. Junior Ashton Galindo also had a pair of knocks and scored once as Keota drops to 1-2.

Eagle softball fell behind 4-0 after an inning of play and could never recover, falling 12-4 to Iowa Valley. Freshman Lexus Detweiler and eighth-grader Elyse Lyle led the lineup with two hits each, while senior Cassandra Swantz, sophomore Dakota Dodd and freshman Jaylah Redlinger each had a hit and a run scored.

Redlinger also had three stolen bases as Keota falls to 0-2. Both Eagle teams are back on the diamond tomorrow evening against Belle Plaine.
