National Missing Children’s Day was Saturday, May 25. In an effort to keep the children of southeast Iowa safe, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind local residents of their child identification kits.
These kits require a parent or guardian to collect and store specific information about their child or children. This includes fingerprints, DNA, current photographs, a description of physical characteristics, and more. Should a child go missing, the child identification kit can be given to law enforcement so that relocation efforts can be as efficient as possible.
Child identification kits can be obtained at the Stride Into Summer Event at East Lake Park on June 2. Officers will be on site to help fill them out. If unable to attend, kits are also available at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office by calling 319-385-2712.
