hillcrest-2

Hillcrest Academy baseball made it two straight conference wins to begin the season last night, as a big sixth inning propelled them past Lone Tree 6-2.

In a game heard on the KCII3 Stream, both pitchers were dealing early. Phoenix Anderson, who would ultimately go the distance for the Ravens, allowed one run on three hits through his first six innings. For the Lions, it was Jack Patterson who didn’t surrender his first hit until the fourth, surviving multiple jams to limit the Hillcrest offense.

Emmett Burke led Lone Tree at the plate with two hits, the second of which tied the game at one in the fourth. A Rowan Miller RBI double in the fifth put the Ravens back up front 2-1, and four runs in the sixth added the insurance. The key hit came from Seth Ours with a 2-run double as the Lions utilized three different pitchers to eventually get out of the frame. Patterson picked up the loss, allowing three runs off two hits in five and a third innings pitched. Despite allowing a run in the seventh, Anderson closed things out and ended the night with 10 strikeouts and four hits.

The 2-0 Ravens travel to Pekin Thursday, while the 1-2 Lions are back at it tonight against New London.
