The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves cruised to a 16-0 victory over Pekin last night in their second game of the softball season. WMU led 10-0 before the first inning was ever over, allowing them to end the game early after only three frames.
Senior Makiah Lower led the way for the Wolves, putting up team highs of two hits and four runs batted in while also getting the pitching victory, allowing just one hit and racking up six strikeouts.
Sophomore teammate Quin Smith also had four RBI and scored three runs, while junior Josie Nelson came up with two hits, three runs scored and two runs driven in. Winfield-Mount Union bounces back from a season-opening loss to Hillcrest Academy and looks for more tomorrow night when they travel to face WACO.
