The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team tries to add to their current win streak tonight when they travel to Wilton. The Hawks are 3-1 on the season, 2-1 in league play, after reeling off three consecutive victories against Mount Pleasant and a doubleheader sweep of the Tipton Tigers in the last week. On Memorial Day, the Hawks took two from Tipton on the road by a combined 40-4 score in just seven total innings. Mid-Prairie batted all the way through the order in four of their seven chances at the plate in the twin bill. They scored in every inning of the first contest, en route to a 17-0 win and all but one inning of the second, taking a 23-4 victory. On the season, the Hawks are hitting .474 as a group with a .630 on base percentage and .722 slug with 61 runs on 46 hits, 27 walks and only 14 strikeouts. Gabi Robertson, Kadence Grout, Sophie Miller, Brenna Jehle and Dakota Mitchell are all hitting .500 or better. Grout’s eight RBI and seven hits are best on the team while Miller and Mitchell have each scored a team best nine times. In the circle, Grout is 3-1 in 18 innings with a 3.50ERA, 12 strikeouts and two walks.

The Wilton Beavers stand at 4-3 on the year, 3-2 in the River Valley. They swept Iowa City Regina Monday in a doubleheader by 10-7 and 8-5 scores. The Beavers are hitting .398 as a team with a .507 on base percentage and .500 slug with 68 runs on 70 hits, 35 walks and 24Ks. Leaders at the plate are Catie Hook with a .667 average on 14 hits, 13 runs scored and nine driven in. The Wilton pitching staff has a combined 4.38ERA, giving up 48 hits, 25 earned runs, walking and striking out 23 each with opponents hitting .287 against them. Kennedi Tyler is the leader at 2-0 in 18 innings with a 4.50 ERA, 17 hits allowed, 12 walks and 11 strikeouts.

The Beavers have won seven of the last eight in the series. Mid-Prairie won one of three last year.
