After 150 years of serving southeast Iowa, the West Chester Community Church is celebrating with several activities this weekend.

On Saturday, June 1, all are welcome on a bus tour of the sites and churches that went into making the current West Chester Community Church. Washington County historian Michael Zahs will provide information along the way. The bus leaves from the church at 3 p.m. When everyone gets back, a come and go meal will be held on the church lawn from 5:30-7 p.m.

Festivities continue on Sunday morning, where a breakfast begins at 9 and is followed by a worship service at 10:45 a.m. More history will be on display with a video about the church along with some special musical performances.

West Chester will be a busy place over the next several days, as Pastor for the West Chester Community Church, Don Patterson explained. “We decided to put it on that particular weekend so it would coincide with the reunion at the West Chester School. If people wanted to come from a distance and be a part of the weekend, they could do it all on that same weekend.”
