The first home game for WACO softball in eight years was spoiled by WMU last night, as the Wolves handled the Warriors 13-0 in four innings.

In a game heard on the KCII3 Stream, Quin Smith was the story defensively for Winfield, making her first start in the circle Thursday. Smith fanned 10, allowing just one hit and two total base runners. While she kept the Warriors at bay, the Wolves offense was able to get to work early and often. Scoring at least two runs in all four innings, WMU took advantage of 10 walks from WACO’s pitcher, Drew Graber. Six different Wolves had one hit apiece, including Jessie Renken and Makiah Lower, who each had two RBI’s.

In Graber’s first pitching start of the season, the freshman struck out six for WACO, going the distance in the loss. The Warrior’s lone hit came from their lone senior, Rhiannon Horn, as she laced a triple in the opening frame. WACO dropped to 0-3 with their next contest at Hillcrest Academy tonight. WMU is also back on the diamond today, hoping to add to their 2-1 record against Louisa-Muscatine.
