The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams are on the diamond tonight when they host the Wilton Beavers for a pair of River Valley Conference twin-bills. The Golden Hawk softball team is 3-3 on the year after a 2-2 week that saw them sweep a Tipton doubleheader and fall to Wilton and Burlington in back to back contests. The Hawks are hitting .391 as a team with a .536 on base percentage and .572 slug with 61 runs on 54 hits, 29 walks and 31 strikeouts. Individually, Gabi Robertson, Kadence Grout and Sophie Miller are all hitting .500 this year. Grout and Miller lead with eight hits, Grout has a team best eight driven in and Miller and Dakota Mitchell have scored a team topping nine runs. Grout has done all of the work in the circle this year, with a 3-3 record across 30 innings, a .370 opponent average, 32 runs, 23 earned, eight walks and 17Ks with a 5.37ERA.
Wilton is 6-4 this season. They split two Saturday contests at the Northeast Goose Lake tournament, beating Wapello 12-0 and falling to the No. 2 ranked home Rebels 6-0. The Beavers are hitting .362 as a team with a .462OBP and .459 slug with 85 runs on 89 hits, 42 walks and 36 strikeouts. Catie Hook leads the team with a .667 average, 16 hits, 14 runs scored and 12RBI. In the circle, Wilton has a team ERA of 3.62 with a .252 opponent batting average, allowing 51 runs, 29 earned runs, 27 walks and 34 strikeouts. Ali Walker and Kennedi Tyler each have three wins with Walker at a .283 opponent average, 36 hits, 16 earned runs, 13 walks, and 16 strikeouts with a 3.82 ERA in 29 innings. The Beavers have won eight of nine over the Hawks including a 5-0 win at Wilton last week.
The Mid-Prairie baseball team is 8-1 this season, 6-0 in the River Valley Conference after an 8-2 Friday win at West Branch. The Hawks are ranked No. 5 in Class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association, winners of four straight. Mid-Prairie is hitting .326 as a team with a .490 on base percentage and .432 slug with 83 runs scored on 74 hits with 61 walks and 50 strikeouts. Tatem Telfer is hitting .429 to lead with 12 total hits and 14RBI. Brady Weber is best with 11 runs scored. On the mound, Mid-Prairie has a 1.47ERA with a .167 opponent average, 35 hits allowed, 22 runs, 37 walks and 82 strikeouts. Weber has a 0.54ERA in 13 innings. Telfer has a team best 28 strikeouts. Bowen Burmeister, Brock Harland, and Telfer all have two wins.
Wilton is 4-4 this year after back to back wins over Iowa City Regina and Midland to close last week. The Beavers are hitting .297 as a group with a .416OBP and .406 slug with 54 runs scored on 65 hits with 40 walks and 69 strikeouts. Briggs Oien is at .500 this year, Carter Hull has a team best 11 hits and seven RBI. Owen Hassell has scored 10 runs. The Beavers have a 4.54 staff ERA with a .185 opponent average on 52 hits with 48 runs, 47 walks and 54 strikeouts. Ben Garvin and Landyn Putman are a combined 3-1 with a 2.75ERA in 25 innings with a .200 opponent average, 25 hits, 10 earned runs, 13 walks and 23 strikeouts.
