A Johnson County man was pronounced dead following a train versus pedestrian accident in Tiffin over the weekend.

At approximately 3:34 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, the Joint Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting the incident at the Brown Street and Iowa Interstate railroad crossing. Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrived on scene, located, and identified 30-year-old Cody Marmet of Tiffin who had sustained serious injuries. Life-saving measures were provided, but Marmet succumbed to those injuries at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. The Tiffin Fire Department, Johnson County Ambulance Service, North Liberty Fire Department, Joint Emergency Communications Center, and Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted in this investigation.
