The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball and softball teams make the trip to Letts Tuesday for a Southeast Iowa Superconference boys and girls doubleheader with the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons. The Raven baseball team is 3-0 overall and in conference after early wins over Pekin, Lone Tree and Winfield-Mt. Union by a combined 25-13 score. Hillcrest is hitting .220 as a group with a .400OBP and .270 slug. The Ravens have 25 runs on 22 hits with 24 walks and 29 strikeouts. Individually, three players, Rowan Miller, Phoenix Anderson and Seth Ours are hitting .400 or better with Miller leading at .545 with a team best six hits. He and Ours have each driven in four and Ours has a high mark of six runs scored. On the mound, the Raven staff ERA is 2.24 with an opponent average of .198, allowing 19 hits and 13 runs with six walks and 21 strikeouts. Ours and Anderson have thrown all 25 Hillcrest innings this season.

According to the latest recorded information, Louisa-Muscatine is 1-4 this year, dropping a 10-0 decision at Winfield-Mt. Union in five innings Friday where they had just one hit. The Falcons hit .250 as a team with a .338OBP and .302 slug with 19 runs on 29 hits, 16 walks and 42 strikeouts. Braedyn Van Auken hits a team best .500 with six hits, he and Ty Northup have driven in four and Xavier Wheeler has scored five times. On the mound, the Falcons have a 6.74 group ERA with a .190 opponent average, allowing 29 hits, 40 runs, 37 walks and 36 strikeouts. Northup is 1-1 in 10 innings, giving up nine hits and three earned runs with 19 strikeouts and a 2.17ERA. The Ravens have won four straight in the series including a sweep last year by a combined 27-3 score.

The Raven girls are 3-1 this season with back-to-back wins over WACO and Pekin by a 32-7 total to end last week. They hit .346 as a team with a .524OBP and .481 slug, with 55 runs on 36 hits, 39 walks and 37 strikeouts. Individual leaders include Malia Yoder with an eye-popping .692 average on nine hits with 10RBI. She and Stavia Miller have each scored eight times. Yoder leads the way the in the circle, throwing all 22 frames for Hillcrest with a 4.77ERA, 1.55 WHIP with a .198 opponent average on 22 hits, 15 earned runs, 12 walks and 39 strikeouts.

Louisa-Muscatine is 6-2 this year after a 7-3 win Monday at Van Buren. The Falcons have moved to No. 13 in Class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. They hit .355 as a team with a .428OBP and .458 slug, with 55 runs on 76 hits, 26 walks and seven strikeouts. Individually, Rhylann Lessenger is hitting .565 with 13 total hits and 10 runs scored to lead. Morgan Stecher has a team best 11 RBI. In the circle, the Falcons have a 4.51 staff ERA and .273 opponent average, giving up 59 hits, 29 earned runs 18 walks and 44 strikeouts, led by Kamryn Taylor’s 2-0 record in 27 innings with a .193 opponent average, 22 hits, six earned runs and 32 punchouts for a 1.58ERA. L-M has won 21 of the last 25 in the series, including 20 straight with the Ravens last win coming in 2011. The boys start at 5:30 and the girls at 7p.m. tonight in Letts.
