The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball and softball teams will try to get back on track Wednesday when they host West Burlington in a Southeast Iowa Superconference matinee. The Raven baseball team was stunned Tuesday at Louisa-Muscatine 5-4 in a walk-off win by the Falcons. On the season, the Ravens are hitting .214 as a team with a .381OBP and .278 slug with 29 runs on 27 hits with 28 walks and 38 strikeouts. Individually, a pair of Ravens are over .400 on their average with Rowan Miller at .571 and Phoenix Anderson .417. Miller leads with eight hits and five RBI. Seth Ours has a team best seven runs scored. On the mound, Ours and Anderson have worked all 31 innings this season with a combined 3-1 record, .254 opponent average on 32 hits, 11 earned runs, eight walks and 25 strikeouts with a 2.46ERA.

West Burlington is 1-6 this season after a 10-6 loss to New London Friday. The Falcons are hitting .257 as a team with a .317OBP and .327 slug to go with 39 runs on 44 hits, eight walks and 47 strikeouts. Isaac Beard leads at the plate with a .391 average on nine hits. Conner Bush has driven in five and Ayden Figuereo has scored six times. The Falcons have a team ERA of 8.72, and a .279 opponent average, giving up 69 hits, 54 earned runs, 26 walks and 49 strikeouts. Beard, and Caleb and Conner Bush have worked 30 inning this season with a combined seven ERA. West Burlington has won three of the last four in the series, but the Ravens took a 10-6 decision in 2023.

The Hillcrest girls are 3-2 on the season after a 13-1 loss at No. 13 in Class 2A Louisa-Muscatine Tuesday. They hit .346 as a team with a .524OBP and .481 slug, with 55 runs on 36 hits, 39 walks and 37 strikeouts. Individual leaders include Malia Yoder with an eye-popping .692 average on nine hits with 10RBI. She and Stavia Miller have each scored eight times. Miller leads the way the in the circle, throwing all 22 frames for Hillcrest with a 4.77ERA, 1.55 WHIP with a .198 opponent average on 22 hits, 15 earned runs, 12 walks and 39 strikeouts.

West Burlington Notre Dame is 8-0 on the year after a 13-1 win over Columbus on Monday. The Falcons are ranked No. 15 in Class 3A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The Falcons hit.407 as a team with a .488 slug and .519 on base percentage. They have scored 90 runs on 87 hits with 27 walks and 33 strikeouts. Individually, Paige Kramer is hitting .421 to lead. Madalynn Knapp has 13 runs scored and a team best eight RBI. Lauren Kreiger has 13 hits. Madelyn Thomas and Oryana Gonzalez have done the pitching for the Falcons with a combined 1.98ERA and .227 opponent average on 39 hits, 13 earned runs 21 walks and 38 strikeouts. The Falcons have won the last eight in the series, dating back to 2007.
